When Andie, 16, joined the Keys to Success program, she already knew the career she wanted to have: be an emergency medical technician (EMT). This bright young woman is on track to graduate from high school a full year early.
An Up-Close View
Working with her career development specialist (CDS), Andie had the opportunity to conduct an informational interview with a local EMT to learn about the job, how to prepare for it and more. The interview reinforced her desire for this career choice.
In addition to school, Andie received employment preparation help from Keys to Success. She has worked part-time at a local coffeehouse for three months.
Beyond High School
After graduating high school, Andie plans to attend junior college, where she’ll study fire sciences and prepare for her EMT certification.
Being in foster care is not going to stop Andie from having a great future!

Andie is one 191 young women and men actively participating in the Keys to Success program, which goes beyond helping them find employment. Working together, our career and employment development specialist help young people discover their potential, develop job readiness skills and take an active role in determining their futures. They also provide emotional support and connections to other resources that will help them succeed in life and career.
