As a 13-year-old girl in foster care, Annabel never dreamed she’d have the opportunity to attend college. Little by little, people and programs in her life went to many lengths to make sure that not only she starts college, but also finishes with a Bachelor’s degree.
Shaking Doubts
Annabel worked hard to get accepted into her dream college at Northern Arizona University. Even then, there were many times when her close family doubted her ability to earn her degree. As an education major, her goal is to help other foster students in their education journeys.

Change the Course
Statistics show that 97% of young people who age out of foster care will not earn a college degree. The three percent who actually complete college, like Annabel, overcome significant huddles to be successful in their pursuit of higher education.
Through our Post-Secondary Scholarship program, Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation is working to change the odds. Our scholarship program gives students in foster care the ability to not just go to college, but also thrive in college with opportunities for engagement and collaboration among our scholars.

Foster Higher Learning
Supporting the AFFCF scholarship program means give young adults who have aged out of foster care the ability to chase their educational dreams. You also help them find camaraderie with other students who have similar experiences to their own.
AFFCF is a Qualifying Foster Care Organization, which means you can receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your Arizona state taxes. The maximum an individual can claim a credit for the 2022 tax year is $500 and $1,000 for couples. Donate today!
