On August 11, 2020, the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation reached a major milestone…receiving our 50,000th award request since we began using our new application system in 2016!

A Simple Request

So what was the award request for? It was for De’Leonia to get her driver’s permit.

This highly motivated young lady wants to be a business owner/lawyer to advocate for young people just like her. De’Leonia has been talking about getting her permit, but she didn’t have the support or the means to get it previously. Working with her youth support specialist, she has been studying for the permit test during their meetings.

A Permit to a Brighter Future

Having her permit allows De’Leonia to work toward getting her driver’s license. She currently works full time, while saving for a vehicle that will get her to and from work more efficiently.

It also gives her license to dream about a brighter future.

De’Leonia’s youth support specialist tells us that De’Leonia is working with two of her friends to create and operate their own home-cleaning business. Having her permit, and eventually her driver’s license, means she can put all her awesome entrepreneurial aspirations into action.
